As the fiscal year for 2015-16 ends on April 30, 2016, we have much to celebrate at Austin Lodge 1735. The outgoing board set numerous priorities for the current fiscal year and accomplished most of its goals. Most of the ceiling tiles were replaced, the concrete slab in the main hall was re-surfaced and new floor tile was laid, all the old tables in the main hall were replaced and a state-of-the-art flat screen 4K-TV was purchased several days before the Super Bowl. Funds have been encumbered to replace the double doors at the front entrance to the lodge and a membership card scanner will be installed when the doors are purchased.
The most significant accomplishment during this fiscal year was the retirement of an $80,000 debt to the State Comptroller accrued between 2007-2011 for under-reported mixed beverage sales. After four years of dedicated effort, this board of directors satisfied the conditions set up in a negotiated payment arrangement. In spite of this major obstacle, the lodge's doors have remained open to its members and the community.
Congratulations to all members and patrons who contributed to the success of our lodge. A special acknowledgement goes out to the Women of the Moose Chapter 1417 for its tremendous support to all projects undertaken at our lodge.
